Artistic Differences

The most complex element of production seems to be the variance of opinion on the smallest creative details.
On a typical studio set, deadlines and dollar values are attached to every minute and any rebellion is crushed to push the project forward. Likely each person in every position has helped create something box-office returnable and the audiences agreed with whatever was spewed out. Standard procedure.

The strength (and weakness) of indie efforts is that the crew are essentially producers and have voices rather than being numbers on a paycheck and while many hands can make frighteningly disjointed work, often the piece is strengthened by the collective brilliance. The hardest however is launching something off of the ground with every individual as deeply invested. Many early projects can't be reflective of every individual working on the feature.
Write your features well, folks, the first audience you win over is your crew.
